Most nights, I’m content to be kicked back under a blanket on the couch, working on crafts and watching whatever episode of Criminal Minds is replaying that evening. But there’s one thing that is guaranteed to get me to put down those knitting needles, get all jazzed up, and get my arse down to George Street.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is when Repartee comes to town.

Repartee

For those who don’t know, I’m talking about Newfoundland’s rock stars. I know we have lots of fantastic musicians, but the members of Repartee are are like, seriously, actually rock stars.

The electro-pop group always takes the stage with a show that brings as much visually as it does musically. Between Meg’s elaborately beautiful make-up and outfits, the ever-changing stage decor, and the pure amount of fun they’re having with each other, you can’t help but leave their show with a smile. The energy and fun is so infectious, I can’t help but dance my butt off. Like seriously. My fitbit all but explodes.

Meg, Robbie, Josh, and Nick have been tucked away for months, working away at a new full-length album that I am dying for but have to wait until next year for because sometimes life is cruel, or good things come to those who wait. Which ever fits your beliefs better. So before their show at the Rockhouse this past Friday, I was having serious Repartee withdrawals. (I’m not the only one, right!?)

But the wait was well worth it, becauseRepartee Meg Josh Robbie they had a whole slew of new songs ready for us. They played us new tunes from their upcoming album, and showed us that they are at the top of their game.

That being said, they weren’t afraid to bust out old favourites. They played some tunes from their first full-length, and even shared with us that they’re re-recording their local hit, I Would Die Before You.

The show was the best that I’ve seen them play, by far. They’ve fine-tuned every note, every harmony, and every beat. Meg is an enchantress who owns the stage. I’m pretty sure it’s only a matter of time before they take over the world.

So keep an eye out for announcements about their new album. When it’s released, get the album, check out their tour, and fall in love. Because Repartee will be a household name, and you’d be doing yourself a favour to get in before the masses come to worship.
